passenger side electric window failure

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I've lurked on and off for a while, picking up some good tips to keep my 52 plate Fabia Silverline on the road, so thanks for all of those!

Last week I went to wind up my electric front windows, the drivers side one worked fine but the passenger side made a sickening crunch noise and now doesn't work anymore. The motor still spins, and actually the window will go downwards but wont close. The window glass can easily be moved by hand, and that's currently the only way to close the window. In addition, every time I go over a bump in the road the window drops a little bit.

It seems likely to me that something has broken off in the link between the motor and the glass. Assuming I can get the interior trim off, is this something I'm likely to be able to repair myself or is it definitely a garage job?

thanks in advance

The regulator has broken, will require a new one. Complete reg is about £60.

Repair kits are also available that replace the cable and clips.

Pain in the neck job!

Did mine and never again :o
