Fabia on Tonight with Trevor McDonald

Featured Replies

For those who watched it (i.e the ones who detest Eastenders ;)) anyone who comes near me with an ISA system for my Fabia like the one on this program earlier can kiss my :moon:

After a few replies of  I might explain myself. :D

Just seen it also...

Is that system GPS based?

If so, what happens when you're doing 70 on a motorway and pass under a road with a 30 or 40 mph limit?....

Would have to assume it knows what direction you're going and therfore only passing under/over that road. But good point! A 70 to 30mph emergency stop would be good on the M1!

I did notice however a delay when entering the 30 limit. I reckon he went through the limit signs at around 50, then the car braked automatically down to 30... If its gonna ever work it needs to get the car braked to 30 before, or at the very start of the limit - not 150 yards or so past it.

And like I say - anyone who installs an ISA system in my car without me knowing will be dealt a :slap:

Jaosn, the fun starts when / if legislation is brought in to make it a mandatory fitment in all new cars....

At that point, i shall break out the passport and leave this island forthwith :)

 2015 apparently, so you can enjoy the incredibly unsafe, dangerous and downright deadly vRS octavia for a few more years yet. ;)

Older cars will not be affected, its just NEW cars which will have to comply with this, so allowing for the average lifespan of a car, perhaps by 2030 we'll all be driving "pedestrian safe" and "automatically braking for speed limits" cars.

Either that or we'll all have died in a thermo-nuclear WWIII. :)

I prefer the second idea :D

The way this world is going anyway

If this does come about as a new law, then I am with Geoff. My passport will lead me to another country away from this law infested hole!

I must be the only one, I'd have it fitted on my car \ all cars in a heartbeat....

Will keep my licence clean, and allow me to concentrate on hazards \ road conditions instead of being worried I was doing 31mph and looking out for speed cam \ hidden cop etc...

Granted, I'd prefer if we start with 20\30mph zones, but if eventually we have all of them then so be it, at least the government would not get any more of my hard earned.

There will be no fun/ risk for the next generation of of petrol heads although track day business in the UK will grow rapidly in the next 20 years if this is the state of things to come..... Time to buy a track or two!

Anybody ever driven on a German Autoban at 70mph? Well i have and it's painful!! Had two Krauts in the back (no offence to Germans) and when i said this was the motorway speed limit in the UK they could not believe it and laughed their heads off. Prior to this we were doing about 130mph (well that was the reading on my speedo) realistacally it was more like 120mph. The point is when you drive on the continent, especially Germany and drive in excess of 100mph on a regular basis when you come down to UK legal speeds they are brick slow! So i think i'm with you guys if legislation comes in i'm off!! :drive:

Right, group buy on Easy Jet tickets it is then, remember the earlier we book the better :D

Count me in!

If this comes in, what next? Automatic steering? Cars that stop every 20mins so you can rest? Whats the point in automated vehicles? Thats what trains are for :finger:

Maybe a little over the top, but I'm not liking the way things are going...

It does make you think how far will it go...?

As soon as (good forbidding it wont be) this is enforced, i'll either be booking my Easyjet ticket, or putting my roller skates on...

Unless their also chipped/monitored by the govenment so I cant go over 5mph
