oil lifters

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

I have a horrible tappety noise when the car is revved/underload.

Just wondering how hard of a job it is to change the lifters,

and is there anything else that i need to change?

Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks

Andy

Probably need a new camshaft as well if it needs litters.

Then your looking at injector seals, bolts etc

Oh dear.

How much am i looking at?

And is it a DIY job?

Canit cause much damage if run like this for a while?

DIY would depend on your skills, can you do a cam belt etc.

Have seen a fair few fail, if it is the lifter buckets wearing out it can create a lot of damage if left.

Can you smell any fumes when you open your bonnet or see a slight bit of smoke coming from the injectors?

Had this problem on my fiesta tdci.

Tapping when underload, (done my head in) turned out the seals needed changing. Ford wanted £900 to fix.

Cost me £10.50 to do myself to change the 4 seals.

With a bit of luck it's just your seals.

Seals are inside the head unlike the Fiesta so it's not going to be them.

I've got some spare buckets that are unmarked if you want them

MM Not good then. so not a DIY then.
