A/C compressor packed up

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I'm just after a bit of help really, I just took my fabia vrs for a A/C gas top up and was told that the compressor has packed up. I was wondering what my options are and how much this is going to cost to fix.

I have only had the car a month or so and the A/C packed up the secound time I used it. It's a 53 plate and I was given a three month warantee from the garage where i bought the car. I spoke to the garage I bought it of and he said it would need a re-gas which is not covered by the warantee, now this is done I will obviosly be going back to them as a first step however I was wondering what my other options are if this turns out to be fruitless.

Any Help would be greatly recieved.

Thanks.

Car was sold with warranty as being fit for purpose, and that includes working aircon. Gas level should have been checked before sale.

Take it back, let them regas it, and discover the compressor is goosed. Needs gas after compressor replaced (about £600) so gas becomes a vital component of the repair.
