Chain or Belt Camshaft Drive?

Featured Replies

Hello I have just joined the club - pick up new Fabia next week. Can anyone advise if the new TSi 105 PS & 86 PS 4 cylinder power units have chain or belt camshaft drive? Can't find anything definitive on the web, useful for future ref. Any idea if Haynes or anyone else doing a manual? Thank in advance.

Manual from Haynes usually come out when the model is no longer being made.......so a couple of years wait!! Mind you as it uses alot of the bits from MKI Fabia a Haynes from that could give you a rough idea!

The 1.2lt TSI is CHAIN between the crank and the camshaft (only one as 8v).....then (aux) BELT between the crank, alternator, air-con pump. I'm 98% certain about this! B)

The 1.4TSI in the VRS is CHAIN between the crank and the camshafts (two as 16v) then one BELT between the magnetic clutch and the supercharger......then another(aux) BELT between the magnetic clutch and the crank, alternator, air con etc!!!
