DSG Noises & Other Woes...

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Not sure if this issue has already been answered, have checked thoroughly but couldn't see it here already

I have a 56 Octy II 1.9PD (105) with the DSG. When accelerating normally I hear what can only be described as a whirring/scraping noise as it goes through 1750-2000 rpm in 3rd. You get 2 'whoosh-whoosh' noises about 0.5 seconds apart and then it changes to 4th at around 2200 - 2400 rpm. You sometimes get it 2nd to 3rd, but not often.

Power take up in reverse can be temperamental, especially if you have to reverse up a slope, it is far from smooth. Once you select reverse you should wait a second for it to engage - fine with that. Once you apply power, it's as if you're blipping the throttle, even though you're not. Sometimes in 1st doing a hill start it will do the same thing.

It has been doing this for a long time. I've owned the car since it was 6 months old and 7k miles. It is now 4 years old with 75k on it. It's been fully serviced as per the schedules by dealers and had the transmission fluid changed at 40k. It is due a service imminently. It spends most of its life on the M5/M6 and does very little town work.

As it still works OK I'm tempted to leave it alone. However just wondered if anyone else reports this problem and if anything was done?

Reversing uphill into a tight parking space always makes me sweat with my DSG but so far have had no problems apart from as you say being a bit slow. No noise like you describe.
