E8 & E9 Error Code

Featured Replies

I have a 2006 MkV Golf GTI 2.0 TSI (until September when my Superb arives).

Yesterday on the way home the engine management light came on so on the way into work I called in at my friendly garage and asked if they could connect it to their diagnostics. The nice mechanic guy connects the kit and says, 'O, yes, you had two errors but don't worry, I've reset them for you now, everythings fine'!!!

I asked him what errors and what the faulf is and he said there was no description but it was codes E8 and E9. If they come back on again he will have a closer look but not to worry it could be anything.

Previous problems this week have been a rear light going out, and being low on oil (1 ltr required to top it up). I have also had a reminder from VW about the DSG gearbox needing a oil service. Do these problems have any bearings on the error codes or can anyone shed any light on the codes.

E8 and E9 are no VAG codes, nor are they listed in the repair manuals. I suggest you get the car scanned by sb. using VCDS next time.

Thanks for the reply, I will definitely be getting it scanned somewhere else next time. It's the waiting for the next time that is worrying me.

the sounds like the codes you get from a snap-on reader, they are listed as manufacturer specific and unreadable.. which pretty much makes it a useless piece of kit
