felicia top speed

Featured Replies

Top speed is irrelevant past a certain point, depends on the car I guess. Sure, many of us have done it but it's not something to be done every day. It's nice to know a car can do it but I think most of us would rather blast down a B road than go for a high speed run.

"no i don't care"??? Just make sure you only kill yourself then!!

if there's any other cars blocking my progress i go onto the hard shoulder to get by

are you using the diesel gear box tom? mine bounces of the revs at 120MPH

jesus h christ on a bike.. it's edd...... no mate, i suspect my valver revs higher than the 8v unit......

whilst we are on the subject of willy waving and soapboxing... my pickup will out accelerate a mk1 octavia vrs from a standing start... and dare i say it it's even quicker than the fastest car on the planet, a fabia vrs (you know the one, the one that's driven by chinless oiks with triangular torso's and back-to-front baseball hats)

edit: and judging by the the stats on the sig above, my 41mpg average isn't too shabby either

Tom, the Fabia vRS is not the fastest car on the planet however my Felly 1.6ltr might be, it can out accerlate a mk5 Fiesta Zetec S 1.6

Thomas i believe we should have a traffic lights Grand Prix, your pickup vs my MR2, next time i'm down your way perhaps

MArtyn you make a good point however, it is much more engaging attempting to hurl a mid engined rear wheel drive sportcars around a tight soaking wet(not meant to sound sexual) roundabout at 30mph than it is sitting at 120mph on a quiet motorway getting all of about 20mpg

it's coming off the road soon for a few months so i can do some minor work on it

That's what I said/meant. Some cars are more fun at slow speeds anyway. Parents have a Suzuki Swift and it's such a fun car to drive you never need to go over the speed limit on a B road to have fun with it since it keeps it's speeds so well and handles really well.

what you doing to it Tom?? i may pop down in October...

awwwwwww FIT!!!! okay i wish i hadn't sold the Porsche 944 now, i think my mr2 roadster might be outgunned by that bad boy!

The Porsche could pull 0-60mph in about 5.2 sec's(remember it was completely stripped, dipped, seam-welded then only built with the necessary bits) no heater, no radio, 1 window wiper etc etc. and 231WHP

I hope to either bring the Felly with an arb and some springs, or the MR2 with a brake line kit, pads and discs and lowering springs... should be fun!

i know you will keep a decent build diary.... i have a friend near me that has a 9u caddy with a 20vt with 350bhp, perhaps i will send you a link to his build thread so you know what problems to expect

i i think the kerb weight came in at 1011kgs after the build, but i refitted a passenger seat when i got it which was about 20-25kgs, but still it was much lighter than the stock car which weighed about 1240kgs

My 944 i'm referring too

That's going to be some sleeper there Tom emoticon-0148-yes.gif

i'm going to run it on factory management too  i've acquired an ecu with a 200bhp map on and has the immobilizer defeat coding too... it's not a straightforward swap though, needs cutting and welding etc in the engine bay, plus a custom wiring loom, oh and did i mention the difficulty in finding somewhere to put the intercooler

200bhp, with an open diff and 195/55/?? tyres.... sounds like a recipe for wayward handling, has ye considered an LSD or possibly some R888 for the front. it's just i know how my felly spins the inside wheel on the stickiest of surface under hard cornering and thats with 75bhp.

even with a thorough chassis i can see 200bhp being a handful in the wet.

good luck and godspeed Thomas

That will be .... interesting, Tom! What are you going to use, transmission-wise?

Oh my!

The Felly's hadling can barely handle the power from the standard engines at around 70hp. Ah well. Just make sure you're pointing forwards when you stick the go pedal down.

Can't wait to see it anyway.

And completely agree with all the above. Top speed is pretty irrelevant as there aren't many roads or times where it is safe or appropriate to do it. Far more fun keeping within the limits on a nice A/B road!

When we go to Germany btw we normally go pretty close to top speed on the Autobahn as we still manage over 40 mpg at speed.

planning on using a vw 02J cable change box... i've been researching this for some considerable time now and it's not nearly as difficult as you might think :wonder:

Thats going to be mad thinking of how the fellys handle! :D

Yeh... But the madder the better right?!?

You scrapped plans for an auto box Tom?

Phil

I love how you guys in this forum are more level headed and less OTT about this than the fabia forum. Think i might sell up & buy a felicia

Matt

We are more level headed because the majority of us don't actually own our Felly's they are simply on loan to us from our grandparents

that speed was done on a clear part off M1 and satnav speed car said 115mph

But not many have been dumb enough to come on a public forum and brag about it :dull:

LOL

From a vRS owner that always sticks to the limit(?) :|

:p

Stick to it on public roads! The petrol has to last the 100 mile a day round trip to work. That's why I have a track day booked.

Lol, 90 miles to work and then work on top - my petrol lasts fine. The enjoyable part is as the, bright yellow, Skoda Fun breezes past people - the look on their faces. :)

Almost that alone is worth owning it for. :)

Sadly that look is something that very few Skoda owners will get to experience. :p

If you want petrol to last - buy a diesel. My Focus TDCi will do 130mph and still return a tidy 55+mpg, but it's not half as much fun as the Fun. (The clue is in the name)
