which bits to swap to new shock?

Featured Replies

which bits need to be swapped to new shock? bump stop, top mount got them sorted, its the bottom thats confusing me. on the original shock the rubber sleeve that gos over the piston sits on a plastic rim, but this rim wont fit onto the new shock? you cant just leave the sleeve hangin loose can you?

if you lowering it then make sure to trim bump stops. or for the rears buy the shorter cupra ones.

its only bein dropped 20mm so will this be nececery? in what way can you tim your bump stops?

No need to trim for 20mm drop.

Sorry not sure how too. It's the sleeve that fits over the shiny piston and gos inside the spring. Lol surly people know which bit I mean? Can't think of how to discribe it any other way. I really need to sort out posting pics. I used to be able do it since it all swapped to this photo bucket nonsense

I guess you mean the dust protector? If so, then fit it so it lets in as little debris as poss. Doesnt matter too much if it just hangs at the bottom. Upload a pic on photobucket and link it here!

ahh do u mean the black protecter that goes over the rod?, doesnt it just fit onto the bump stop?

The bump stop should hold it up.

The sleeve needs to able to slide over the protective cap and body of the shock.

Yeah its held up by the bump stop but its loose at the bottom and just flaps about

That's how it should be.

Really? It sat nice and snug on a plastic trim on the standard damper
