Swimming Spare Wheel

Featured Replies

In 2 of my Octavia Is, I have had water ingress into the spare wheel pit in the boot, in 1 case resulting in the fitting of a new seal. Whilst I am not bothered with it in my current car (as it is being traded in tomorrow for a new Scout :D ), I wonder if anyone has had this problem on Octavia II estates. Should I be examining the boot on a regular basis for water ingress?

it only generaly happens when the pipe pops off the rear washer so check it after a few weeks if your worried with it being new. Winter tends to be more common due to the freezing. (note, ive had 4 octavias and, fingers crossed, its never happened on mine)

I'd be surprised if that much water was due to the rear wash-wipe, also, OP would surely have noticed that the rear wash wasn't working?

More likely water was getting in past a seal somewhere.

Bought my Octy 2 Estate a few months ago - within a few weeks the spare wheel well was full of water.

Went back to the dealers, they replaced the boot seal and it's been fine ever since.

Beleive it or not there was a skoda bulletin a while ago about octy 2s rear panel pushing in slightly where the boot catch is making the seal not sit correctly against the boot lid!!

I've got the water feature in the wheel well too. Will hot foot to the dealer to get it sorted.
