I've noticed there are 3 different models of turbo regularly fitted to the Fabia VRS:

5439-970-0012

5439-970-0023

720855-1/3/4/5

As I understand, the parts starting 5439 are interchageable, but I don't know which model is fitted on my car. Does anyone know how I would find out?

The "0012" is the OEM, the "0023" is the current or superceding part, according to their blurb. There's also a Garrett option. Compared to some places, might be pricey but if you don't buy, there's plenty of part number info around.

Is the garrett a direct replacement for the BorgWarner ones then? It is cheaper to buy one of those from TD than to get a replacement BW one

EDIT: So there seems to be a basic BW one, a newer BW one and a Garett one, all fit the ASZ engine... would I be making a big mistake buying anything other than what is in there already or are they interchangeable? I need to know asap having major trouble finding out and need to get car booked in asap
