Volkswagen Driver - Special GTI Issue

Featured Replies

I have just received a copy in the post of next months mag and my car has a small feature in the GTI Special Mk2 Owners section. The editor had asked for submissions of stories and pics a few months ago on the Club GTI forums. The article mentions that I have ordered a Yeti and am using the GTI as an everyday car at the moment. So if any of you find yourselves browsing magazines you can have a quick read of my first published story :giggle:

Makes a pleasant change from getting bills in the post

Yup, I'm definitely in the minority! The water-cooled VW scene is pretty much all about modifications but each to their own it's just not my thing. Originality does it for me.

Although the steel wheels are actually new as they are still available from VW dealers. The car originally had Teardrop alloys that I still have but the need properly restored before

they go back on. They still have the original rear tyres on them.

Your car is a beaut! Especially on those lovely steel wheels. And remember that even though the alloys might still have tread on them they are probably past it as being too old!

Absolutely, that was the reason I went out and bought a full set of wheels & tyres. The side walls themselves didn't show any cracking but I was still nervous driving home

on the motorway from Worcestershire to Scotland when I bought it back in 2009.
