Pairing Retrofitted Bluetooth with Columbus but no MaxiDot or MFSW?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I appologise if someone has alreadsy answered this but I have searched and cannot find it.

I have just installed a Columbus Sat Nav and Bluetooth Unit into my 2009 pre-facelift Scout TDi which doesn't have either MFSW or

Maxi Dot. I haven't had a VAG-COM update yet.

Everything appears to be working fine so far with the columbus, however, I cannot seem to get the bluetooth working properly. The unit is definately recognised by the columbus as when I unplugged it the telephone menu disappeared and the button just turned into a mute. However, there doesn't appear to be a menu on the Columbus for pairing, and my phone hasn't found it when searching for devices.

It is probably worth mentioning that the kit I have used didn't come with an aerial for the bluetooth. I thought that was just to get mobile signal to the kit but could that be affecting things? I just plugged and played the bluetooth device after shifting the CD Changer lead into the piggy back lead.

I'd be grateful of the help.

Thanks

David

Which version have you fitted?

Hi the part number of the fitted module is 5N0 035 730 D

Thanks,

I googled the part number and came up with this from the superb forum

The columbus, not being BT enabled (no BT built in) will not have a menu to pair with any phone. You may have to have the maxidot installed (and the MFSW as well....)

Ben is the expert so back to shark_90......

Thanks for the advice Mike, but unfortunately this didn't appear to work. Do you thiunk this needs a recode on VAG-COM? I thought you only needed to recode it if working with Maxi Dot but do you think this is the problem?

Thanks

Anybody else have any ideas?

Thanks.

I do have an experience on this , with exactly the same bluetooth module. The things started to work ONLY when I retrofitted Maxidot and MFSW. MFSW requare due to PHONE button on it. There is no way to pair bluetooth via vag com as far as I know. So , my bluetooth cost me ~200euro with delivery , and then Maxidot 250 + 100 euro labor for fitting , then 180 mfsw (with delivery, but I do have Facelifted model , so my Airbag fitted from original wheel and cost me nothing , but if you need one be ready to spend 200euro) , then 120euro steering wheel control module. If you are lucky your control module might already work with Msfw if not you also might need the part which is between steering wheel and module with flexible wires. It is not bad idea then to retrofit Cruise control , because you removing steering wheel anyway , so this will cost you an extra ~100-120 euro.

At the end I got a lot a features , which I did not planed to install , but now really enjoying it :)
