Possible Headgasket failure among other things

Featured Replies

Its that time of the year again and looking at getting my car ready for the mot and cambelt/water pump done. (125K) then discovered a damp patch on the inner wing.!!

It seems my coolant system is presurising, the pressure release valve on the expansion tank is seeping and all the hoses are rock hard.

Temp. gauge seems to be normal (never goes past halfway) however just recently ive noticed even after a 5 mile trip, when u turn the engine off, i hear alot pinging like hot metal cooling, this is very loud and lasts longer than previously noticed after a very brisk run.

Could this be down to anything else mechanical?

If it is worse case scenario, is there anything alse i ought to do/have done while the head is off?

On a seperate issue, my clutch is well and truly ready and not a clue what to do, in fact i've had a headache for the last few months on this issue alone.

im going down the 'more' power line eventually, probably hybrid, already got fmic, (looking for 200+ Or as much as the nozles can take)

I want to retain its current drivablity, no chatter - so no smf, but handle more torque/power.

im lost when it comes to diferent materials like ceramic, carbon kevlar etc and their effects on normal driving.

So i'd appreciate any help you guy's could give, like manufacturer, where's best to get them from, how much and part numbers.

PLEASE HELP BEFORE I GO INSANE!

had this problem not long ago. i replaced thermostat and coolant bottle top solved my problems, think both parts camt to around £30.

try these first as they are quick and easy jobs to see if it solves issues

What car is it?

Matt
