1.6 CR Oil filter and oils

Featured Replies

Thinking about ordering a 1.6CR Octavia - I have grave doubts about DPF, DMF, CR components, Cambelt servicing costs, and whether real consumption is that much better than a 1.2Tsi (mainly do 40 miles straightish B roads twice a day 50mph max speed - damn specs cameras)

Where is the Oil Filter on the 1.6CR engine? (cant see it in the showroom). Would oil/filter change be an easy DIY job? And what spec oil? Is VW505.01 enough?

No problem, I do only 35 KM to and from work ,and over 22000km on car over the periodo of almost 1 year and never the DPF showed up.

Did change the oil at 15km, the filter was 9€ at the dealer, the oil must have the 507.00 spec.

Around here the longlife service is between 250-300€, depending what dealer you go.

Independent and certified garages will do the job also and for a bit less, but if it has warranty better go to dealer.

Cambelt has to be changed at 200000km ( i think)

Fuel consumption, well for the first 15000km was 6.0L, now can easy do less than 5.0L ( 50/50), if I drive out of city and do go speed limit I can easily drop below 4.5L.

Not every car is the same, Golf drivers do complain that the 1.6tdi consumes too much diesel, some do 7.0L, and the DPF is noticed to often.

I myself never have put diesel in those cheapo places, not saying they are not good, always have put on BP and GALP.

Lately not even BP have filled up with because the car at idle worked ok, then shooked ( like misfire) and kept doing this.

With GALP no shaking at idle and hardly any regenerations. Funny my wifes renault 1.9dci has been filled up with GALP lately, was BP all the time, and now she never complains that the car seems funny :wonder:

Oil filter is on top, must take plastic cover off and remove a plug(i think)
