YETI Windows opening

Featured Replies

Hi I just went out to the car and all the door windows were open, luckily it was not raining for a change.

This also happened last week - but I thought it might have been me accidentaly pressing the key fob.

Has anyone had the same thing happen to them.

Mike

This does happen if you press and hold the unlock button but not had it under any other circumstances although I did have a strange happening where passenger side front half opened and alarm sounded, this occured a couple of weeks ago but not since. Also the windows, if open, will close if you press and hold lock button. If none of these apply I would take it back to dealer for check :)

you can turn the automatic keyfob window opening off from the dash display

You can 'reset' the leccy windows -see p.49 of the second least read book :)

I have had a lot of MINI's. They would do that if the computer box in the door got wet. All windows open and doors unlocked. I suspect its sitting on the key fob though. Didn't know they did that though. Nice feature - when you want it to happen ;))

Imteresting the yeti has an annoying feature - if you have the drivers window open in the rain a lot of water gets in and can soak the switches - all down to having no roof gutters.

thank you all for your input.

I can confirm that this is most probably accidental. Last week I parked in a supermarket car-park, locked the car and headed off. I hadn't gone 5metres when I stopped to tie my shoelace and immediately heard the sound of my doors unlocking behind me ! My keys were in the pocket of my fleece and I had accidentally activated the unlock button when I bent over. The electric windows were halfway down as a result, luckily it was a rare dry day otherwise the results would have been a little soggy to say the least. All in all a lesson for the future I would say.

That is the only downside I have found so far - tons of water in with the window open

Well the same thing just happened to me yesterday. Locked the car and came back one minute later to find all the windows bar the driver's window had opened about 3-4 ins. Is this a sign of the old problem of the siting of the window motor in the drivers door?

Morning and welcome to the forum..... please remember to only ask the same question ONCE. :giggle: No need to cut and paste this question into every thread on the subject. Someone will answer in due course, or indeed if you have read the other thread you will find the answer.

Can you get wind deflectors for the Yeti's front windows, and if you can do they help stop the window open shower?

Could a set of these help?

Yes you can, and yes they do.

I have the Climair ones. About £40 IIRC off the interweb.

Also available for the rear windows.

Hmm, noted. As this incident differed from those already read in the forums I took the car to the local Skoda dealer (Startins) who rapidly determined that the fault lay in the Window Regulator that was showing sporadic failing in the basic settings. They reset the basic settings FOC. Good service.

But the prob is back again in the cold weather. Driver's window stays shut but other three drop 3" after locking the car!

Hi CFB,

Do the Climair ones help reduce the rain / windscreen wash run-off that affect visibility of the external mirrors in the Yeti?

Any additional windnoise generated by fitting them?

Yes they do.

As the trailing edge of the wind deflector is behind the mirror face of the external mirrors.

As for wind noise, I would say that it is very slightly decreased with small openings and just about the same with the windows wide open.

Are they easy and straight forward to fit? I always look at items like this and am concerned they will fall off if you were to open the window!

Do they have any negative effect on cabin warmth, as i am sure you would get slightly less of a seal?

Thanks

Dead easy to fit, takes about 5 mins a side.

They sit outside the window glass and are very secure even with the window wound right down.

The window seals perfectly with the frame so no additional noise or draughts.

There are no screws or sticky tape so you would think they might fall out but the shape and design means that they don't.
