Rear windows Regulator

Featured Replies

Think I might have the first issue with my Superb in the 18 months I have owned it, and its one of the rear window regulators.

As I am in spain at the mo, with a car full of passengers in temps which have reached 40.5c today whilst on the outskirts of Seville the windows have been getting a lot of use after the car has been left for long periods in direct 35c+ sunshine. One of my rear windows now goes down fine, but when closing about 4 inches from being closed there is a crunch sound coming from inside the door, so I suspect something is amiss inside.

Will have to get this sorted once back in the UK, but until then I have disabled the all window open/close in maxidot and locked out the rear windows so my passengers will have to put up with a little heat until the A/C has done its stuff.

Well the window regulator is starting to let me down, I used that window today and when opened I got the usual crunch at about 3 inches open. I went to put the window up it went up to within about 2 inches of the top and popped down again as if it thought there was an obstruction. On the third attempt to close, it closed fine all the way to the top. So I decided to open it again a little but was unable to close it without a little help from my hands as each press of close resulted in the window dropping about 1 inch and not going up at all. Ended up getting out, manually pulled the window up a little before pressing the close button and it did close.

Any decent dealers near Blandford, Dorset who can fix this under warranty before it busts full time.

Well, poor car should be all fixed on Friday. Need to drive to Westover in Corfe Mullen, but at least it will be fixed. Parts are already on order, and they have not even seen the car yet. I wonder what the use for Courtesy cars.

My friend had the same issue on his audi A2, guess what, kids puting things into the door and got caught in the arm that opens the window.

Got my car back from Westover at lunchtime today, the cause of the issues with my rear window was not a mechanical issue with the regulator after all. Turns out the cause was Tree sap gumming up the system. After they cleaned it all the window works perfectly again.

The coutesey car was a almost new Fabia diesel, 11 reg. Not sure of the spec but it seemed quiet basic, and sluggish compared to the superb.
