Fault code on fault code off after remap

Featured Replies

Ok so I just got my car remapped and noticed the power delivery isn't as smooth as everyone is suggesting theirs is. Spoke to Ben and he is going to give me a new map with less torque as he thinks it could be something to do with the torque limiter. This may sort out my next issue but I'm asking for your thoughts anyway:

After the call with Ben I ran the fault code reader and it gave me p0299. I then switched back to original map and the code went. I then switched back to performance map and the code isn't there which is pleasing. I have a 2011 TSI vrs with 4,000 on.

Should I leave the car as stock for the weekend or will it be ok to use performance map this weekend as long as the code stays away? I know Ben is really busy and away for the weekend and I don't want to bug him and I want to pushthe car a bit this weekend see.

Any help on any of the above would be great.

Bit annoying having to check all this on a new car I must say. Would be reasonable to suspect that the remap has just highlighted the weaknesses in the system? Although fault code has since gone away?!?!? Maybe if I take it for a spin it may come back.

Not necessarily the car could be the map especially with that sort of mileage.

God I hope so. I only got the car cause I persuaded her indoors that it wouldn't go wrong. When I bought the map she killed me. Guess I'l just be patient and wait for Ben at shark to remodify the map. I would have thought he gave me the same map as other TSI owners?

When and opnened the car up a bit and no fault code this time although a slight hesitation. I'm going to have to be patient again and wait for Ben

Nick, as you know we're at GTI International but we'll sort this for you when we're back. We have heard from one other person that their car does something similar, so I'll go through both maps and compare them and see if there's a correlation perhaps.

Yeah no problem. Just trying to get some input and not to bother you hence the thread.

Would be nice to know the cause as I keep getting this fault code with no power loss or any running issues on my stage 1 map. Though Ben is a top bloke and will get it sorted

I'l updat the thread as soon as Ben gets a chance to get back to me. Thing is he is super busy right now and I'm trying not to hassle him. Ben says it could be something to do with the torque limiter. Time will tell.

The power from the map I am thoroughly enjoying

I believe that most engine related fault codes are stored in the ECU so when you reloaded the standard map and overwrote the ECU the fault code was automatically erased along with the old map.

The code will only come back if the same fault is detected with the standard map back in place

That's the odd thing, the code hasn't come back, yet!

Still having the flat spots and am going to head to Ben who said he will get to the bottom of it which is great. Just want to update the thread for my own records.

I checked the original map to see if it hesitates and to be honest I don't think it does. Now, when I put the performance map back on the maxi-dot says ESP: error. Anyone know what this is?? Still got fault code p0299.

I shall call Ben tomorrow and explain to him and arrange for my visit to shark. Bit of a pain but as it's a new car I'm concerned even if the issue is small.

I find that after loading the performance map my P0299 fault code seems to disappear after few hundred miles of driving. I do not know why it says it is under boosting as there are no air leaks and no pre cat, if anything it actually boosts quicker now the precat is gone! Very strange!

Mine stays and I guess it is related to the flat spots and maybe this ESP error. Who knows????

The joys and pitfalls of modifying lol. Im sure Ben will sort it out

I'm looking forward to it being sorted that's for sure
