Concerning Fabia 1.4 Automatic

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

I am asking if the Fabia sedan 1.4L automatic engine is the same engine of the VW Polo sedan 1.4L automatic?

Looking at Skoda UK's site and VW UK's site, both quote identical cc (1390), power (75bhp @ 5000rpm) and torque (126Nm @ 3800 rpm) figures for the 1.4 16V engine for the auto gearbox - all of which points to them being the same engine. However the engine codes will almost certainly be different and some external components may differ too since they have to fit different engine bays. I don't think that either of the particular models (L) you quoted are available in the UK. Which market (country) are you thinking of?

Hi Denis

I live at Egypt (Middle East - Africa).

But let me ask u is the Skoda Fabia sedan 1.4L automatic better or the Renault Clio sedan 1.4L automatic assembled at Turkey? because the 2 cars with the same price and I am changing my car these days and I am confused!

Welcome Mahmoud  I would normally say that that the Skoda would be seen as more reliable / harder wearing over in the UK - Renaults are normally seen as good handling cars but with not very good build quality.

However, the main thing I would consider for you is the availability of parts / dealers and how common each of the cars are in Egypt. I know in Kenya, when i lived there, that everyone used Peugeots and Datsuns as they had good dealers and everyone knew how to fix them cheaply which was more important than how brilliant they were as a car. good luck :)
