Simple question... if you take the door off a Fabia, will it start?

Recommended Posts

If you remove the whole driver's door (electronics included) from a Fabia - will it start and drive?

Or is it like the Volvos I used to work on where if you had any electronic component unplugged, the car would go into a sulk and refuse to spark up?

:)

LOL indeed - was a serious question though :)

Not planning on making a beach buggy based on a Fabia any time soon, I'm afraid.

Does anyone know if the door electronics are critical to the running of the car? On some cars the car won't start if the main door switchpack isn't plugged in. Is that true of Fabias?...

No, because some of the wiring might pass through the door and a switchpack, and you wouldn't represent that by pulling a fuse.

I think the only way to tell is to try it...! Which I will try to do tonight.
