im mike or'wib' for short and i am in the process of looking to buy a gen 2 skoda octavia VRs diesel and am looking to find out as much info as i can before i dive in and buy one.

i have been a lover of the VRs since they first came out. both me an my other half both currently drive MK2 Toyota MR2s (both N/A although were looking to do a V6 swap on one of them) which are cracking fun to drive but commuting from warringtom to manchester daily is not the best of fuel (£70 per week) and with an impending marrage we need a more practical car as a load lugger/motorway cruiser.

would any of you knowledgable members be able to point me in the direction of a buying guide or answer some of my questions such as.

what pitfalls are there to lookout for?

have there been any recalls that people have missed?

is the fuel economy as good as they say on the diesel?

how nice is it on a long trip?

what are the common faults to be aware of?

how much do i have to worry about high motorway mileage

well after alot of searching, finally i pick up my new car tomorrow. really happy, its a 2009 Octavia VRs Limited Edition, manual, hatchback with a parrot hands free kit and 30k on the clock.

how do i find out what number it is if its limited edition
