After fitting the front bumper you need to change the badge to a vrs one :giggle: , got an idea, looking at mine there's enough room to put TDI after the VRS. Wonder if an engraver could do it??

 Looks the biz!

Spotted it on M1 and thought it was a genuine vRS - just need the badges to go with it.

Ahem! You wanted an engraver?

Tdi after the vrs on the Chrome bit would look good.

I use the sand blast technique like the logo's on scuffs plates. If you want it done mate or anyone, just pm me.

Thanks Fabla. TBH I'm not sure about the VRS badges. I like the styling of the VRS compared to the std model but I'm not sure I'm that bothered about putting the badges on too. After all, I'm not changing the interior over, so I don't think I see the point.

Can I ask how you drilled it, are there marks on the inside of the boot where to drill?

Hi,

No, unfortunately there aren't any holes. Raf_ came over to mine with his vRS and we took a few measurements and a bit of "close enough" before determining the position. We made up cardboard templates of the bottoms marking the hole centre positions, and put them on the bottom of the spoiler, got it in place, then removed the spoiler leaving the templates there.

Even after all that, the holes had to be, erm, "worked" a little to get them to fit.

For final assembly, we got a couple of turns on the thread to locate the screws, leaving about 3mm gap between the underside of the spoiler and the tailgate. I squirted a load of tiger seal or equivalent in there, and tightened the screws down, removing the excess sealant with a cloth.

Oh, and don't forget to paint the newly drilled holes!

Martin

It is easier to have a vrs there so you can take measurements and you can be sure that they are from the same place. The cardboard template was of where the spoiler mounts to the car and only one is needed as each side is a mirror image

That looks better,

it is abit worrying drilling cars, I work at a dealer and we fit accessories to cars alot and the feeling never goes, drilling and cutting brand new 30k cars especially if its first time you have fit a certain accessory

The old "saying measure twice, drill once" means alot

Think we kept on measuring for atleast 45mins before Martin got his nerve up to drill

Looks good, I felt the same nerves drilling my bumper for some parking sensors. It's a big old piece if messed up.

Bugger, you'd have thought that they'd have some drill marks on the inside of the boot etc, as i've seen the same model as mine fitted with a spoiler, so the dealer must struggle too for a guess? Odd! Think i'll leave it to the bodyshop then!
