Octavia fault code advice

Featured Replies

Hi, my first post here having spent the last hour searching the forums for a similear problem.

I have a 2005 Octavia TDI (140). The engine light came on about a month ago but there was no noticable problem except maybe a little more fuel consumption.

I plugged the VCDS into it last night and got this:

1 Fault Found:

19558 - Motor for Intake Manifold Flap (V157): No Signal

P3102 - 000 - -

So I removed the connector to this, gave it a little clean and some wd40 and put it back in. I cleared the fault and tested again.

Now what happens is the engine managment light stays off, fuse 8 pops, and I get these faults instead:

2 Faults Found:

17075 - Fan 1 Control Circuit: Short to GND

P0691 - 000 - -

17056 - Cylinder 2 Glow Plug Circuit (Q11): Electrical Fault

P0672 - 000 - -

Can anyone offer advice. Do you think it's the inlet manifold flap motor/unit that needs replacing or just dodgy wiring? Ay help apreciated!

You will need to replace the Intake Manifold Flap Motor. It's a reasonably common fault.

If you disconnect the motor and change fuse 8, you will find that the fans start working again.

Thanks for the quick reply, seems fairly straight forward then. I'm trying to find the part on Euro Car Parts with no luck pn on the unit is 038128063g

Anyone know a good place to buy one?

OK found it now: Europarts

£226, is this the going rate or has anyone found better?

Part ordered from Murrays Direct in the end, £195 inc VAT and next day delivery for a new part. Will get it fitted this weekend, pop a new fuse in, clear the fault and see what happens.

Part fitted on Saturday, fuse replaced and fault cleared. This has fixed the problem and no further fault codes are reported. Thanks guys, a small fortune saved.
