Finally... It's arrived

Featured Replies

Hi there,

On monday I collected my new 11 plate diesel vRS from Garlands at Aldershot. On picking the car up it a mere 8 miles on the clock and although clean was not up to my exacting standards as a car detailer.

Having used the car yesterday to travel to work I have found the car is returning an average of 56.2mpg, as opposed to the 28mpg I was getting from the Evo X it replaced.

Today I decided to detail the car, which meant snowfoaming the car, then washing it with a wash mitt and two buckets, degreased the paintwork and then washed down again with the pressure washer. I then checked the paintwork physically and found it was very rough, so out came the auto clay and the whole car was clayed, removing almost all the dirt and grit that I had felt. I then used zymol pre-wax hd polish on the paintwork, which was right mare to get off, and then followed this with a layer of zymol glasur wax.

Tomorrow I intend to put the car on axle stands and will take the wheels off. I will be washing them off the car using the same method above and will seal the alloys with wheel sealant and some dodo juice supernatural wax. I will also dress the tyres at the same time, as well as put another layer of zymol wax on the bodywork of the car. It will then be onto dressing the black plastic and rubber to remove the polish and wax residue and to bring the black right up, the glass will also be done at the same time with autoglym fast glass or glass polish depending on how bad it feels. A hoover of the interior and leather conditioner application will finish off the detail, hopefully.

Below are some photos of the car and the reflection I have noticed already.

Any feedback will be much appreciated.

Regards

Mark

Thanks for the comments guys.

At the moment I am planning on keeping the motor standard but that decision may change in time, after all it isn't too expensive to get the car remapped and the results would be quicker 0-60. I have changed the car for the mpg/cost of running (I know it's sad but £880 a month on the Evo has taken its toll on both me and my bank balance).

To answer your question james_19742000, I am not too sure when the car was built as I managed to blag it from the current Skoda UK stock, as it was a cancelled order. From the time of putting in the bid for the car through the dealership I had the car within nine days, and I understand it was delivered to the dealership within six.

When I was looking at ordering a new one the sales guy was taking about seven to eight month lead times, which for me personally was not an option. As it was the car I wanted, in the colour I wanted was in the stock fleet so happy days for me.

Although the vRS hasn't got the same 0-60 speed as the Evo (mine did it in 4.7secs), it pulls like a train and is great fun to drive on winding b-roads. You will love your motor when it arrives. I already do.

think the polishing looks worth the effort my new scout is in the country somewhere ordered it early november hope its worth the wait first new car ever

POL999 I just dribbled over your pics again swear youve added more ! I am shocked at a detailer leaving dealer sticker on back window if they don't pay me to I refuse to be their rolling advert ( the look on dealers face as I peeled mine off while he was trying to show me how to turn headlights on etc ) priceless

I love the vrs, sooo wish I could afford one, but need to either get lots of pay rises or tell the wife to get back to work!

Any pictures of the Evo?

After all that work it looks almost as good as mine! ;)

Looks very nice, and as already been said, take the dealer sticker out

:oB E A U T I F U L

Very nice. Always liked them in anthracite emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Another one on the dealer sticker removal bandwagon though ;)

Plus their plate surrounds, and tax disc holder. If they want you to advertise for them, I'm sure you can reach an amicable payment mechanism!

Also interesting on an 11-plate that you've still got the older style aerial type, which is longer.

and tax disc holder

I really need to buy one of those magnetic tax disc holders

If you don't want/need anything fancy, these are fine:

Got them for my parents cars (to remove annoying advertising) and they're spot on.

thats the one, between me and the mrs we have had them in the last 4 cars. I knew I should have got spare when Tesco had them for 99p

Another 85p I'm sure won't break the bank ;)
