Safegard paint protection

Featured Replies

Today when I went to finalise tax/payment etc, the dealer offered SAFEGARD paint/interior protection that I had previously declined because I had heard about it being overpriced BUT realise now that others were not talking about SAFEGARD but SuperGard/Superguard etc.

Very few searches came up for SAFEGARD but this was an interesting opinion. The whole post (4 pages) is here and has some people mixing up Supergard with SAFEGARD as if they are the same product.

I understand SAFEGARD has a Lifeime guarantee (was 3 years and is transferable. I need to get more data but for £325 (inside and out) it seems a cut above the others. Also, it seems you can't buy it from supplier - trade only.

Website for Safegard stuff is being constructed here.

Don't really know about SAFEGUARD, but I've just had my Mazda 5 cleaned & detailed by cleandetail.com who have done a fantastic job, when/if my Fabia vRS is ever built I'm having them put the autoglym lifeshine on which has a 10 year guarentee and is designed to work with future polishes/wases if you wish. An example of how good they are is checkout the new Audi A1 on their portfolio, it shows the general level of finish by dealers, then how the car should look when they've finished.

Safeguard sounds a great product. I've not used or heard of it myself. I had my car treated with 'Supaguard' by the dealer, inside and out (£150 all in by a professional Superguard agent). They also gave me a full maintenance kit thrown in. I don't regret having it done. It has saved the day on a number of occasions and actually prevented damage to my paintwork, including oven damage when having a small repair to my car at the Skoda dealers bodyshop when, in the oven, the plastic bag the car was wrapped in came into contact with the roof of my car causing 'sweating' to affect the surface of the paint. This normally requires a respray to the affected area. Not this time. It just polished out. They said it was the Supaguard that saved it.

It's 3 years old now and the protection is still there ok, although the warranty (3yrs) is now about to expire. I'm sure whatever you go for is going to be first class. But as always, can you keep posting on this a let us all know how you get on with whatever you decide to do. Good luck.

Had my car Supagarded when I bought it from Dealer - assume yours is also from Vindis - negotiated down to 200.

I haven't been particularly impressed by interior protection, but external pretty good after nearly 3 years and 70,000 miles.

Sorry meant Safegarded, not Supagarded!

On my MK1 vRS I had the TST paintwork treatment applied from new.

I was a little sceptical at first but when the process was explained; it's 'mopped' on rather than 'polished' with the car in a booth to heat the paint and allow it to soften and absorb the treatment rather than have it sit on the surface, I was more convinced.

In nearly six years the sheen hasn't dulled at all (admittedly having the car garaged 95% of its life has helped) and washing the car is a less frequent activity.

Thumbs-up for the process and benefits therein.
