Mk2 golf 8v possibly for sale. Opinions wanted

Featured Replies

My dad has a white, H reg, 8v Golf GTI (no power steering) that he is thinking of selling. It is a good, well looked after example with only non standard parts being the alloys and an air filter. I have been looking around and price seem to vary wildly for these now, with some being minters and others being dogs. The car has done about 150000 miles (the dash reads less than this as the instrument panel packed up and had a newer one fitted from the scrapyard. All real milage is documented). I will not pretend it is a perfect showroom condition car as it is over 20 years old, it needs little bits and pieces doing but all in is one of the better mk2 GTIs out there. I was wondering what others may consider a fair price for it was. I was thinking around £1500, does this sound too much not enough or just right?

As I say I am just after peoples opinions about price rather trying to sell it at the moment.

Will try to get some pictures up soon.

I know it difficult to comment without any pictures, but thanks in advance for any input

If it was a 16v I would say 2+, but there are 000's of good 8v gti's about between 500-1500 quid if it's a 3 door you stand a chance a 5 door probably wouldn't sell for that the big money 8v gti's just don't sell unfortunately but stick it up at 1500 and see how much interest you get

Thanks for the reply. Yep, it is a three door. Will see about getting it up for in the classifieds and see what happens.
