How Many Miles Did Your OEM Tyres Give You

I'm intrested to find out what sort of mileage members are getting from their original Yeti tyres. My SM is approaching 14k and having rotated the wheels at 10k, I will be lucky to see 17k. All my driving is around town.

With money being a bit tight these day I have started getting my new tyres. I just purchased 2 Falken tyres at £80 per corner. I will let you know what they are like when they are fitted.

Thats nice and all but what tyres did you get with your Yeti?.

I have seen 3 different sets on Yetis sold here in Taiwan, continental cpc3 (mine, awesome) goodyears and something else i forgot.

I'm still on the original Dunlops at 17.5k miles and they're fine. Rotated at about 10k. The ones currently on the rear have probably got another 1500/2000 miles in them (I won't take them all the way down to the limit markers - I'll change before that), the ones currently on the front rather more. I'll probably replace them all at once though. I'm thinking of going for Goodyear All Seasons (having followed a discussion started by Maffa) next; although the best price I've seen for them so far is about £150 per tyre (225/50/17).

Changed thr front Dunlops at just over 20k, for a pair of Kumho's.

Backs still have several thousand left in them.

At 13,000 miles with Pirelli P Zero. Changed front to back at around 10,000miles. Front now 5mm Rear 4mm. Guestimate life 22,000 ?? Will change all 4 together - probably not Pirelli again.

Is this to keep the wear as equal as possible so that a set of four is replaced in due course?

Presumably keeping equal tread depth all round is desirable for the 4x4 system?

Yes the idea is to keep the wear even, but I used to do it on 2wd cars too.

If I hadn't rotated, I think i would have been purchasing a pair of tyres at about now(13k), then another set of tyres at 18/19k.

Yes. The fronts on 4x4 do wear a bit quicker than the rears .

No my SM is not stolen and I do have feelings you know. :giggle: I'm more of a grumpy old driver.

As i said its all around town driving. My last new car 1992 gave me 40k on a set of tyres. I guess tryes are softer for better grip.

Just replaced all four Dunlops after 27k and twelve months. Fronts were just legal and the backs had a couple of millimetres left but though it best to replace them all. £550 fully fitted and balanced for all four, which hurt the wallet a little!

looks like good going to me. I will have to take some lead out of my boots :doh:

16.5k and I have around 4mm left all round, original Dunlops. I rotated front to back after 12k and the tyre man told me there was barely 1mm between them.

I am very surprised by 4wd owners who have big differences between front and back. My experience matches others on past threads who have near identical wear on front and back.

I have about 15,000 miles on both the winter and summer tyres. Each gets rotated at switchover summer/winter and each tiem there is an´bout 1 mm more wear on the front than the back.

I suspect the summers will be marginal come November at around 20,000 miles, so will be replaced at that time.

Well ... on normal usage the Yeti is fundamentally 2WD, the fronts. The rears are only seriously driven if/when the fronts lose grip, so only part time. On most cars the driven tyres will wear more quickly than the passive. The difference in wear will get wider the longer the tyres are kept on the same axle, rotating at what you expect to be about half distance will even things up over the long term.
