What VW/Audi model is the Octavia based on?

Featured Replies

Been flicking through a few Vw mags and noticed a lot of vw cars with Audi parts on.

It got me wondering as to what Vw/Audi car the Octavia is based on?

Is it based on the Bora shell?

With mine being a 4x4 is it the same system as on the 4motion Vw's?

Would the suspenison on mine be the same as a Vw/Audi?

Would the interior mounting points be the same? e.g Could I fit a four door leather interior out of a Bora in my Octavia?

Any help would be great :)

By the way, isnt it funny how none of the Vw/Audi guys never put any Skoda parts on there car :wonder:

No - because they tend to be badge snobs

golf Mk4 chassis (designated as A3 I think) which is used for the Octavia, Leon (EDIT: forgot the Toledo :D), Bora, TT, A3 (the Octavia 4x4 is closely related to the Golf R32 floorpan)

yes it is exactly the same as the 4 motion and TT and A3/S3 Quattro (Haldex Gen2)

Suspension does have some slight differences depending on the model but largely the same (TT has Cast front lower arms where the Octavia has pressed steel - a popular upgrade)

Interior can be used out of all but the TT - I have a Golf GT TDi interior as they are the best seats for support apart from the R32 Golf ones (£400+ for a nice set)

In essence you have an Audi TT with different bits bolted to it.

What Skoda only parts fit my A4 ? I have a SEAT specific front splitter, and wouldn't worry about fitting any VAG part to my Audi.

What most reverse badge snob people believe that the parts seem to be designated for Audi/VW/SEAT/Skoda etc etc. The're not. They are just VAG.

The mk1 Octavia is designated A4 chassis with mk2 being A5.

Thanks for your advice. Just a quicky though, what P.C.D stud pattern would my Octavia be: 5 x 100 or 5 x 112?
