Removing Rear Wiper

Featured Replies

Anyone done it, easy or hard ?

Also where is the best place to get a blank.

Very simple wayne, tidy's the back of the car up nicely. Can't remember the size of the blanking gromet though. I shall let you know the size tomorrow.

Have fun taking the back panel off - taking it off is easy, putting it back on is fun fun fun!

I'm missin a few clips :giggle:

Get the grommets from halfords, bout £2 they came in a pack of 3 19,23,25mm I think

My rear wiper hasn't worked in over a year, this could be a good little mod.

When I first removed mine I used these 25mm rubber grommets: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_190552_langId_-1_categoryId_165562#dtab

But I've recently changed it for one of these: http://www.venommotorsport.com/manufacturer_product.php?manufacturer=Speedtech&category=Bodystyling&product=WiperBlank

One of my mates thought it was hillarious to poke the rubber grommet into the car, so I fixed him with the more solid glass plug!

Pics of mine done here: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/126427-rear-wiper-delete/page__st__20

Had mine off for over 2 years, and haven't missed it......

Did mine yesterday took 2 minutes and looks really well. Getting the boot cover off the back of the door is easy enough getting it back on can be difficult, easiest with two people all the clips need to slide in at the same time which can be difficult for one person.

I just can't understand the smooth look or what ever people call it, I remember when the only reason your car had a blanking plug instead of a rear wiper was because it was poverty spec :giggle:

Surely the right way to do it is to get a boot lid off a lower spec octy (maybe pre face lift) and fit that as there arn't a hole :)

I'm keen on doing this mod but as a newbie can't even figure out how to get the back panel off. Can anyone advise please? Ta!

Hatch- Pull the bottom towards you, no screws just clips

Yeah hatch panel is a real pain!!!! :'(

Thanks for the advice, jobs a gud 'un :)

Well that really was easy! The rear panel had lots of broken clips anyway, but its still held in place :D

Did mine at the weekend, easy to do apart from refitting the panel.

So, has anyone got a spare wiper motor they want to sell now? :D

Needs to not leak washer fluid like mine does! lol.
