Whoosing turbo noise

Featured Replies

Right then been a while since i was last on here but ive noticed recently with the warm weather and the windows down the turbo on my vrs seems quite loud.Between 1500 and 2000rpm its noticeable obviously when i ease off the gas you can hear it releasing.above 2000rpm if i give almost full beans there's a deeper whoosing as the car takes off.Ive had a remap nearly 2years ago and never had a problem at 170bhp and 295lbs torque. The car is responding as it should but while back turbo pipes came slightly loose and needed to be tightened.Help please would be appreciated.

Sounds like a boost leak somewhere. If the pipes have come off before, there's a good chance the connectors will have become stretched meaning that it's no longer a tight seal.

I had exactly the same problem with the top straight pipe that comes off the 90o from the EGR.

Is this bad news for the turbo?Im going on a 500 mile trip sunday, don't fancy a problem on my journey

Have a look under the bonnet to see if any of the pipes are obviously not connected properly.

Im popping it into the local garage Saturday morning for them to have a quick look over as im not knowledgeable about car mechanics in any way.I did have the top air pipe reconnected using a tighter connector because the standard Skoda ones were naff,if it's another one then i don't know about it
