My Silver Yeti 1.2 MT Burned down

Featured Replies

Just found that I joined Briskoda on Feb 6, while on Feb 7 my car had burned.

And also before the accident I've watched cool TopGear video about Yeti, where Clarkson drove Yeti through burning building.

I don't know what it was....

My Yeti was stock. No security system. No changes to any systems.

That day I took Yeti from garage to get to bus station and back. No problems occurred while driving. I came home. And prepared to have a cup of tea, when sound of explosion came from outside. Then another. Later on I realized that those were explosions of hot front tires.

It was not arson, but exact technical reason of inflammation is still unknown.

More fotos and details on this disaster you can find here: http://yetionfire.blogspot.com/

Posts are in russian, but you can use google translate to read it.

Still considering The Yeti the best car ever....

What has your insurance investigator or dealer say about it? Are Skoda looking into this?

Bloomin' 1.2's! Always knew there must be a downside for getting that much performance from a 1.2! :p I'm wondering what caused it. :wonder: At least you weren't near it or even in it at the time!

Blimey, hope they get to the bottom of it mine is out there in my integral garage :o better check the smoke alarms are working!

Seriously, has this happened to any other Yetis? I assume it is just bad luck or some sort of rare manufactoring, assembly or workshop **** up :(

A Dutch 1.8TSI burnt out a long while back but that was down to the driver being daft and carrying an flammable liquid in the front foot well which spilled and ignited.

Cars are known to spontaneously combust, like houses usually down to an electrical fault :S

Oh I notice our very unfortunate member was running Golf wheels, not sure on tyre size :wonder:

Regards,

TP

Remember the Lambos and Ferraris that spontaneously combusted?

Glad I didn't have to foot their bill (directlyemoticon-0136-giggle.gif)

OOOOO, than's nasty emoticon-0106-crying.gif

Let's hope that's the last of your bad luck.

Please let us know of any findings/results from the forthcoming investigations.

Oh, how sad.

I hope the insurance pays out and you get a replacement very soon

Good job you weren't in it at the time.

I would also suspect an electrical fault but would be very interested in the actual cause
