What turbo does the facelift vrs tsi have?

Featured Replies

I'm after a octavia vrs or a golf edition 30 but want to know if the vrs has a k03 or a k04 on the facelift cars as that is the only thing that is swaying me towards to golf!

K03

But doesn't the ed30 use the older ea113 tfsi with the k04 anyway? In which case that'd sway me towards the vRS which uses the newer ea888, which judging by a couple of recent threads is even more responsive to remapping.

The ED30 is definitely a K04 and the Tfsi is K03, but I thought the new Tsi was something different!? Maybe I'm wrong though....

IHI?

As far as I know its the same turbo on the TSi.

new TSI EA888 engine uses an entirely different turbo than the K03, its an IHI turbo, its acutally smaller, but is more efficient, hence the bigger remap gains emoticon-0148-yes.gif

basically if you ultimately want less than 300hp, but to be more fuel efficient, cheaper tax etc, buy a TSI

want over 300hp fairly easily, go for the older 2.0 TFSI K04 engine.

edit: btw the older VRS is 2.0 TFSI K03

Thought so.

Thanks for the comments I thought it had a ihi on it but wasn't sure, I think really I need to drive them both to see which I prefer!

Maybe something to consider, to get your hands on an ED30 in good condition with reasonable mileage expect to pay £13+ for 07 reg, for that money you could pick up a year Octavia.

Food for thought.

Having said that I would love an ED30.......
