zeion headlights

Featured Replies

Any one know if zeion head lights can be reto fitted onto a octivia mk2 and if so how much?

you will be able to fit them, but thats the easy bit, you will need to fit the washers to the front bumper and all its gubbings the the device for the self leveling for them aswell. it may work out thats its not wort it. and i think you have to hook it up to a code reader to tell the car there fitted.

oh! Probley be easyer to drop the car off at the dealer! :)

For a fraction of the cost and time you could just fit a good quality set of HID's although these will be an MOT failure next year - apparently! :dull:

Welcome to the forum by the way and so you know they are 'Xenons' and it's an 'Octavia'..... :p

I had HID fitted cost me aboyt £200 i think they were the 6000 colour a white blue, one kept going out on start up the guy came back and put something else in the wiring and they were

fine but kept being flashed as people thought it was high beam, but on my VW touareg i fitted some ultra blue bulbs they are £40 and did just as good job if not better and no fault codes

so when i ordered my vrs this time i specified xenons.

For the cost of doing it properly to OEM spec (new headlamps, self-levelling system, headlamp washers including new bumper, new light switch, possible new wiring loom, possible new lighting control module, fitting and coding) you'd be better off selling your car and buying one with Xenons already fitted. As vRS_Pagey said you could try an aftermarket HID kit and keep your fingers crossed come MOT time, or just get a set of uprated conventional bulbs. Or you could just eat more carrots :giggle:

Although my HIDs are literally the difference between night and day over standard halogen, prior to fitting them I had Ring Xenon max bulbs installed, imho they are an excellent compromise.

ta! :)

Quite a lot of people I know have bought from 'londoncolour' - seems a good company.

As for coding, on the Octy2 VCDS coding really just needs the cold start diagnostics turning off for low beam.

Controller 9?

Right....so basically you're suggesting that the OP fit something to his car which will be an MOT failure come January?

Even at only £60 - seems a waste of money for just over 5 months of legal driving.

Suggesting? No, giving options yes, but the legality has been highlighted so the OP (being of sound mind and body) can make his own mind up!

To be fair, as of January as I understand it xenons must be a factory fit item, so even if a complete OE spec kit is fitted including headlight washers and self leveling after the car leaves the production line it will still be an MOT failure............

i thought that was the place where they lived on the Matrix film? not sure if your lamps are big enough for that!

 nearly right, it was 'Zion'. :p

DOH!Not a silent "e" then? ;)

you just put original bulbs back in for the test it takes 5 mins for both sides

But that stops you being pulled by the police how?

You are aware that for the past few months (in preperation for next year) the various traffic police departments have been receiving literature on how to spot illegally fitted after-market HID's and will start pulling people and issuing fines?

Come January it doesn't just become an MOT failure - it suddenly becomes something that gets you fines and delayed stops at the side of the road as they look for anything else that shouldn't be there, is faulty etc.

Just not worth the hassle - OP should fit best halogen bulbs available to him.

Goodness me. We are all able to make our own decisions.... last time I checked.

And yes Pagey, it's controller 9.

Thats interesting, considering my neighbour and friend is a traffic cop and hasn't heard anything about HID's, or how to spot an aftermarket set. :wonder:

Mine are so close to OE light output, and I have a set of washer jet covers fitted so externally they look factory fit. The only way for them to tell is if I am physically stopped and they check for self leveling etc. But if that happens a fine for HID's will be the least of my worries as I have 4 bald tyres, a decat and swmbo's rotting corspe in the boot......

MOT Proposed Changes 2012

My advice is, if you want more light is to by uprated Halogen bulbs either Phillips X-treme Power/Vision or Osram Night Breaker Plus bulbs. If you want the Xenon look go for the Blue coated bulbs, Blue Vision etc. I've got uprated bulbs in mine and you can tell a difference.
