what's the signs of clutch slip?

I know nothing about all this modern car business but could it just be an immense torque spike before 3k then much lesser torque from there onwards. The cheapo mapper kinda way?

Why would it spike in the first place? Is it the Remap doing it?

Typically, not so good remaps will have a massive surge of torque below 3k revs which will not be healthy for the clutch, hence why unless you have an uprated clutch it's not too wise to boot it below 2-2.5k revs.

When people say shark maps (for example) are nice and smooth I.e. There is no killer torque spikes.

I think I've found the flaming problem!!!

The big black pipe coming from the maf into manifold (I think) was hanging on for it's life. It was on at an angle with the bottom half on full and the top half about to pop off with the clip nearly off the plastic pipe. Defo air leak at top. Released clip, pushed pipe back on it's housing about a 1/4 inch.

Done about 35 miles since, also giving it some stick and all seems perfect.

Fingers crossed anyway.

Side note: anyone thinking of buying tyres, get Hankook Ventus evo's for a change. Put 4 new on my car and they're the biz for the money.

Glad you found the problem bit cheaper than a new clutch!

Just posting as a further suggestion for anyone else having similar problems.

Mine's having a new clutch fitted today. I just got a call saying something about an oil seal behind the flywheel (I think? Bad signal...) that they would recommend replacing, as it looks like it has been leaking. I think that might explain my occasional weird slipping that sorts itself out every now and again  Not that clutch slip should be a problem after this work is done anyway...!

I take it that yours has been okay since?

I might need to check this out. I went for a drive earlier and noticed that when accelerating in 3rd, it would rise to 3000 revs, then drop just a little before rising again, all while my foot is down.

I'm hoping it's not clutch slip and there were no signs of it before i had her remapped. Time will tell. :(

Check the box on your top mount. N75 might be dodgy i had a similar issue and replacing the vaccum box fixed it.

If i decide to try/buy a vacuum box, does it matter if it's ASZ or BLT engine?? No idea how it works, sorry.
