Upgrade head lamp bulbs in octavia mk2

Featured Replies

Hi,

i have 2010 skoda octavia mk2(laura elegance diesel)which comes 55/60W headlamp bulbs as OE,when i tried upgrading the same 90/100W,headlamp does not glow.

when i change back to old bulbs it works properly.please suggest how to upgrade the bulbs with a higher wattage.

Your car's trying to save you money; 100/90W bulbs get very hot and can literally melt the bulb holders out of the reflectors, which means you need new headlight shells.

I'd suggest getting uprated 60/55W bulbs instead; Osram Nightbreaker+ if you can get them in India. They have twice the output of the standard bulbs, which is more than the 100/90Ws can do anyway.

100/90W are probably illegal to begin with... ;)

Current control in the voltage control module will sense the extra current and shut the lights down as it thinks there is a short circuit. Fit proper road legal bulbs.
