rear badge removal

Featured Replies

what is the best way to remove the rear badge to enable it to be

replace with a pastyboy one?

screwdriver wrapped in cloth being VERY careful to not dig into the paint, it can be soft, once you've got a gap, fingers in and pull. Clean the underside up nice and clean after :)

A lot of people find softening the glue beforehand helps a great deal. For this, use a hot hair drier or a low heat heat gun. Then I used an old credit card to effectively slice under the badge, using the card to 'saw' through the glue. Remember, take it slow and steady, it's better to take 20 minutes and to a good job than 5 and make a balls up!

Think id be tempted to use a bit of fishing line or something similar.

If you mean the centre roundel then you can pull it off pretty much

once you have gotten underneath it. Removing it will reveal a pair of holes which

are only there to ensure the factory badge goes on straight first time every time

when the car was being built.

It can be freed with a bit of fishing line pulled down behind it.

Then, using a sawing motion you cut through the foam tape holding it on the car.

WD40 can be used to remove residual adhesive stuck to the car.

Then degrease the area, (strong soapy water will do at a push) and stick your

spanky new Pastybadge on B)

I'm waiting for a set myself which will arrive soon if everybody who has

asked for badges will just bl00dy pay the man :wonder:

yep thats the badge im talking about. i've had my badges lying around since March and

thats me just getting around to fitting them as i've just finished painting my grille.

i take it the holes are the same as the ones on the front?

Yes, but on the front the badge is kind of melted over on itself through the holes to

provide an additional fixing medium.

When I changed mine (and later renewed Mrs Grrs...)

I trimmed the knurled over plastic buttons off of the rear of the front badge

using a craft knife. Then using a slim screwdriver, I pushed the badge off

from the rear via each of the holes. The front wasn't as well stuck down as the back on both

our Fabias. Both had started unsticking a bit due to grime and water ingress.

Perhaps that's why they melt them on too?

i was wondering if the rear badge was going to be melted on the same way thats why i asked before just pulling at it. when i removed the front badge i did it the same way as you and then cause i was painting it i buffed the old foam sticky stuff off.

Deffo not melted over on the rear

Hi when i did min i drilled a small hole through the badge at the bottom and the top allso the side, then i screwed x4 small self tapping screws in a little then used a pair of long nosed pliars by using the screw to grip to then using the badge it self to lever off if that makes sense lol if not il post a picture for you! once removed used tar and glue to remove old sticky stuff!

Hairdryer to loosen the pad, tooth floss, and a pair of long nose pliers with teeth. By resting the badge on the first set of teeth and pull towards you, results in no marks on your lovely paint work! But the HAIRDRYER IS KEY!!

Some people leave the skoda badge off and theres no holes, were the holes only certain years?

No, I think they all have them. :wonder: The holes are there to

ensure uniformity of badge application at the manufacturing plant.

I'm pretty sure they all start out with holes there. I've heard of people

supergluing a 2pcoin over the holes in the interior of the boot panel

then getting them filled and smoothed.

mines 53 plate and have them, the badge has two lugs which fit in the holes on the tailgate for it to sit correct and central.

Hair dryer

Strong String or fishing line

Sawing action through badge adhesive

Fingers in behind

Pull off

Clean

Apply new one.

Sorted.

Wish I'd gotten some Patsyboy badges rather than the upsidedown non OEM replacements I got off Ebay :(
