Clarkson On Yetis

Featured Replies

This may be ancient history, but I hadn't seen it before and it made me laugh.

I've seen this episode twice this week. I thought it was a very positive result for the Yeti even though some of the test are stupid. I might even get one for my next car.

Just as well as he didn't assess the oil consumption, otherwise, it would have started heading the same way as the Jetta review.

I haven't heard about the Jetta oil consumption, what was the problem?

What is the problem with oil consumption?

If you check in the Yeti section there have been very few complaints about it.

Oil consumption?! Not a common problem. Mine has used just under half a litre of oil in its first 10,000 miles. Pretty good IMO.

Not so few.

Sounds like exactly the same problem they had with the Fab and Polo - faulty gas seal causing gas blow-by and crankcase over pressure on the downstroke, faulty scrapper rings, assisted by crankcase over pressure, allowing oil blow-by into the combustion chamber and exhaust on the upstroke and/or leaky valve guides.

May be this fella's got a point:-
