Dpf , exhaust system , bulb lights are lit

Featured Replies

I just bought a used Skoda Superb 2.0 tdi cr 170 bhp with 110.000 km on board. Today while driving on the town , dpf light went on. I didn't know what that was so i stopped the eNgine and turned on again . The light was off but it appeared aftet 5 minutes of driving. I stopped the engine again, and so on. After it i checked on internet and i wanted to drive the regeneration mode. When i started the engine the dpf light was off, but the engine exhaust system was on. I tried to drive 2500 rpm , but i succeeded only 6-8 minutes, because of traffic and the light was still on. Now i started the engine after 7 hrs pause and i have three warning lights: dpf, exhaust system and bulb light- blinking. The bord computer Says : diesel filter and check engine service.

On these conditions is it ok to try to do regeneration driving again? I have a motorway 20 km from here , that means i will have to drive 20 km of traffic with these warning lights on than i will have the possibility to drive for 20-30 minutes in high speed. But regeneration is possible under these conditions? Please help

Taken from the handbook:

Diesel particle filter* (diesel engine)

If the warning light comes on, this means that soot has accumulated in the diesel particle filter because of the frequent short distances. In order to clean the diesel particle filter, the vehicle should be driven at an even speed of at least 60 km/h at engine speeds of 1 800 - 2 500 rpm for at least 15 minutes or until the warning light goes out with the 4th or 5th gear engaged (automatic gearbox: position S) when the traffic situation permits it. This increases the exhaust temperature and the soot deposited in the diesel particle filter is burnt.

Always pay attention to the valid speed limits .

The warning light goes out after the successful cleaning of the diesel particle filter.

If the filter is not properly cleaned, the warning light does not go out and the warning light begins to flash. In the information display* appears Diesel-particle filter: Owner's manual. Afterwards the engine control unit shifts the engine into the emergency mode, which only has a reduced power output. After switching the ignition off and on again the warning light comes on.

Have the vehicle inspected without delay by your specialist garage.

WARNING

If you do not pay attention to the warning light coming on and the corresponding descriptions and warning notes, this may result in injuries or major vehicle damage.

Always adjust your speed to suit weather, road, region and traffic conditions.

The route indicated by the warning light must not tempt you to disregard the national regulations for road traffic.

Caution

As long as the warning light lights up, one must take into account an increased fuel consumption and in certain circumstances a power reduction of the engine.

If accelerate to 2500-3000 rpm , gear i. N , will it regenerate? Or i risk to damage the engine.can the regeneration process can be done with vehicle not moving?

I saw on youtube some regeneration process with vehicle standing. They just accelerated and kept the engines at high revs, than a blue smoke appeared on the exhuast ( i suppose it was the soot burned ) . Why is not possible? Why you must drive at high revs? Thank you for advice

Today i put the car on tester. The guys said that the differential pressure sensor is broken. So they cannot tell if dpf is ok or not untill they change the sensor. Are they correct? Is it possible de dpf light thand other malfunction lights are on because of this sensor?

Had a problem with mine that went into limp mode after a week of purchase; 2008 Octavia VRS 2.0 PD with 24,000 miles. It failed to regenerate. Brought it to the dealer and it was a faulty sensor, which they replaced. They couldn't get it to regenerate either and replaced the sensor. All has been fine after that.

Sounds right, I do quite a few DPF sensors a week, latest one seems pretty good though, there are also ECU updates for some of the CR engines but these should only be carried out under instruction from Skoda.
