Thule 775 foot pack and 769 (127cm) square bars

Featured Replies

Recently acquired a Thule 775 foot pack and a pair of 769 (127cm) square bars second hand from fleebay; first chance I've had to try them out. Thought I'd share a couple of photos for anyone else considering this route.

Only concern I had fitting them was how tight to tighten them without causing damage to either the Monster or the foot pack but at the same time making sure they don't move. Torque wrench doesn't go down to the 6Nm suggested in the manual, although this sounds not a very tight setting :wonder:

Thanks for posting TP - that's especially interesting for me as I'm just about to purchase either the Thule setup, the official Skoda one of the Whispbar ones (which are supposed to be the quietest but most expensive option). Nice to see the Thule ones in place on a Yeti. :)

Hi Focus,

went for this option as it was the cheapest plus it maintained the 'zebra look' :D foot pack cost £61 and the rails £24 delivered. Noticed that there are currently some foot packs around £55 delivered and buy rather than bid (nothing like that available when I bought last month). Aero bars were going to cost at the time another £40; driving a Pedestrian Monster I couldn't see the point as I'm only intending occasional use to fit a Ranger 90 bag box.

That all makes good sense given the intended use and what a bargain price!

Mine will be sitting on the autobahns so I'm keen to ensure it's as quiet as possible I guess. :)

Thanks.

Thanks.

When you fit the feet to the car tighten the feet as tight as you can without overtighning, you'll feel the resistance so you'll know when to stop. After two or three days driving check tighten the feet, you will get a little more movement but once you have tightened it you will feel that resistance again and know when to stop.

The same rule applies if you fit a roof box, tighten and then retighten a couple of days later.

If you over tighten your bars you will see them kink in the middle upwards as the force exerted at either end will be too much and will bend the bar.

Looks like I had some luck on the roof bar front today. I managed to get a new set of the genuine skoda yeti bars for £100 which i was happy with. :-) If anyone wants any photos of them fitted I can take some snaps, no problem. :)
