How many Yetis out there?

Featured Replies

Well thanks to Top Gear mentioning this website you can now find out how many cars are still on the road of any given model/make.

http://www.howmanyle...k/?q=skoda+yeti

So in the entire UK there are only 71 Yeti E models!

But I can't figure out which is mine, the TDI Elegance 140 DSG... Is it the YETI E-GANCE TDICR 4X4 SA?

But all in all there are 6149 Yetis (still) on the road and registered. Single most popular model is the Yeti S 1,2 and second is the Yeti SE TDI (who knows what engine size that might be! Guess 110?) But in saying that the very next line (and in third spot) is the Yeti SE TDI 110... So a bit of a mess this list.

doesn't really make sense, that list.

oh well!

i wish people who publish information would proof read it first :dull:

makes you wonder how accurate the figures are if the models are wrong?

Just click bottom right on "How accurate is this data". It is just how the cars are noted on the V5C documents. So blame the Government database!

Quite interesting if you look up past cars you have owned and liked.

EG

about 85 vauxhall chevette 3d GL left, went like rocket but unfortunately rusted almost as fast

only about 20 ford capri mark 2 GL 2lt left, there must have been 1000's at one time as a popular company car.

Less than 200 audi coupe 5 cylinder 2wd's left. Loved the engine and the sound of a 5 cylinder.

Only 6 astra mark 1 SR's left, nearly 2000 in 1994

Triumph spitfires seem to be doing better, unfortunately mine was written off when parked so can't be one of the survivors

Based on this data i'm in a class of exactly 14 cars.

Probably explains why i've never seen another one of the same spec / model.

Mind you i only ever see one other yeti "semi regularly" and the guy driving it refuses to wave to me every time i see him.

I'll make him crack yet!

I had a Chevette as well; great handling car.

Only 59 of my 1st car - Morris Marina 1.3 (drum brakes all round; eek!) :'(

Still 2723 Triumph TR6 - collector's car these days B)

.. but I think I have the best of only 1 Lancia Beta HPE 1600 left. Now that will have rusted away! :D

I had the Lancia HPE 2000. brilliant car until it too rusted away.....

Macdemon, Roguebrit, 900k, Bahnstormer & myself amongst others are the Yeti elegance TDICR 4x4 SA, as that is what is recorded on my V5C. (Diesel DSG). 84 were registered in 2010.

So if you want to know how many are registered, just check your V5C against the above link.

So SA = DSG

I hadn't been able to work that out.

PS> I'm not one of the 84 but one of the 2011 reg 154 (7th January)

No. The numbers shows the total number of cars registered in that year as ON THE ROAD. So the 84 minus the write offs plus the newly built ones are given as 154 IN TOTAL. So only 70 were added in 2011 thus far assuming none were written off etc. You can see it here with the Renault Avantime:

http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?q=renault+avantime

Only one Dynamique DCI was ever sold and that same one is listed every single year as still in existence and registered.

Wow! Indeed. 16% of DSG 140s on the road in the UK (assuming everyone listed above are UK based) are on the forum.

ALLEY CAT with a bit of luck I will be adding to the 14 late October

Then i won't be the only greenline elegance in the village :giggle:

Seriously though, found mine to be thoroughly excellent so far even with the odd little irritant.

S-A will be semiauto which means DSG.

A rather interesting website assuming the data is somewhat accurate.

Hang on, this can't be accurate.

My friend has a Stag and it reckons there are 2,430 of them licensed on the roads, that can't be right surely?

Edited by Allams Skoda

There are loads of stags preserved, they are all hidden away in garages as to unreliable to use, unless they have been converted to rover V8 power. Convertibles seem to survive better than most because they are more desirable, were often only used in summer etc.

Stags became collectable very early after stopping production.

I must admit I do quite often see them around, usually on Sunday mornings when the weather is good. His one is a convertible and has the original engine albeit an uprated cooling system.

Oddly enough it is the very car his father-in-law bought brand new in 70s. It was only after he got it home and started looking through the paperwork he realised that it used to belong to him. Very, very odd!

I see lots of Stags about in hotels and pubs and everytime I think. By gum it must have been going at a hell of a lick when it ran into that wall!!!

Actually one of our bowling team (crown green not that boring flat version) has a Stag which he takes to veteran car rallies all over the pace its in superb nick.

Another has a Moss kit car with a 6 cylinder Vitesse engine. Its quite good fun but Wonderwoman is not to happy if I go out as a passenger. Think she would be happy to collect the insurance money?!! :)

Pedant warning!

ALL Stags were convertibles, but you could buy a fibreglass top as an extra. And to be honest the problem they had with their head gaskets have been mostly solved now, using more modern materials and better knowledge of the problem.

There is a company in Park Royal, London who spend all their time restoring and repairing only Stags.

There are usually a few, in various stages of disrepair, outside the workshop during the day as they are short of space inside.

It is not a small place either.

I reckon the Stag would be a good starting point for anyone looking to own a classic as there are so many about which means the spares are probably Easier to come by than more exotic cars.

Having said that, if I had the money and time, oh and a bigger garage, I would go for a mk1 mini.

I knew all Stags were convertibles, but some were suplied with an optional (I believe steel roof), similar to the one my Spitfire had. The Stag roof was extremely heavy and took 2 to 3 people to lift it off. A neighbour had one and set up a pulley system to lift the roof of his car and store it overheah in his garage by himself. Used to leave it off all summer and put it back on for the winter.

I did something similar with my spitfire whilst I had it. It was written off whilst the roof was in the garage, and I had abot 15 people desperate to buy it when I put the roof in the Exchange & Mart once the insurance company had paid out and not asked about the roof. (I hasten to add the car was destroyed whilst parked by a lorry which did not stop, and this is not a reflection on my driving!)

Actually there are 154 140DSG Elegances and a further 76 140DSG SEs (page 2)

That makes Briskoda members representing 25 out of 230 owners

A shade over 10% still aint bad though

Back to the Yeti: But why were 39 SORNed during Q1 2011? I can imagine one or two as 'write-offs' awaiting long-term scrapping or restitution and maybe a few owners had died and their estate was awaiting probate etc. But 39/6000?

Edit: Hmm, do any dealers SORN vehicles before selling them? Ah, perhaps these are used ones and the dealers cash in the tax disc and SORN the vehicle pending resale?
