skoda felica not starting

Featured Replies

Skoda Felicia (96) 1295cc, Wont start. Was running fine for years, I stalled it on a down hill driveway, with a lot of weight in the car. I have literally just started the car after using it several time previously that day. Stalled as soon as I started. Tried restarting, engine was trying to start, but did not kick in.... (I have on a previous occasion lost the chip in the key and it sounded like that this time)-- But with spare key it still would not start, Have checked, fuel lines and pump, plugs, distributor leads ect.... Still not starting, air filter was dirty but the area within the filter was clean by visual inspection.

Im wondering if my ECU unit has broken, or weather any blockage may have got down into the fuel injector beneath the carb. It is a 1.3 felica, estate, 97 gli model... Just a basic felica.

AN UPDATE: I have checked all the plugs, cleaned them up, and they are not sparking when I hold them against the body. There were signs that fuel had got through as they were very slightly wet... Checked coil, the correct currents are going through it in accordance with my haines manuals readings for my engine... Starter motor is fine as In 1st gear my car jolted forward hen I turned the ignition switch...

SO: Has anyone any ideas or suggestions ???? Im bemused by it !!!! Either ECU - Or a sensor possibly ???? Im utterly bemused...

I doubt the ECU. Have just one suggestion - make sure that the plug leads are tight on the plugs. A friend of mine had similar problem recently and after many hours found a loose plug lead. It must never have been snapped on properly and he thinks that he might have brushed against it when checking the oil. Apparently on his car if the ECU doesn't get all the right feedback it won't let the engine start. Is it possible that something else might have been shaken loose during the stall? Seems that the stall (engine shake) might have been the cause. Regards carloski
