Form maker

Featured Replies

Hi all :)

Does anyone know of an application or software that i can use to make forms? Im looking to create forms for the office for certain tasks that we carry out. I would need to be able to create one then print it out and have it copied. I used to use excel but found it a bit of a trial and it would take me ages!!

Cheers

Kit :)

For simple forms we use MS Word. We use Crystal Reports for anything more complicated or where they need to be partly completed with data from a database.

Insert->Text Box

You can then adjust the size, background, border, etc

You can also insert images.

MS Infopath is designed for what you're trying to do...

Acrobat allows you to make forms, protect them so only the fields can be edited and sanity check them, then the user can just hit submit if you choose that option.

It's rather nice.

In Word it's often easier to create a form using a table as you can merge or split cells to create bigger or smaller boxes or clear spaces on the form and can use the border function to remove, add or change the cell borders. Plus it's easier to align text.

in terms of putting boxes wherever you need them then Word is better than Excel.

In word you can put text in a box and move the box around, format the border, background etc, if you need the text to sit just outside the box you just created then stick it in a new box but format the box with no border.

you can also get a pdf plug in for word that will allow you to publish/save the document as a PDF. It can then be emailed out to all and sundry without fear of editing.

I find revision numbers on the form help.

The nice thing about doing it in acrobat is that not only do you have a paper form or an e-form that can be printed, but you also can have an e-form that can be filled in electronically, digitally signed as the user and sent back without any paper being spent :)
