Hello... Does anybody know how to replace the nearside fog lamp unit on the car. An angry badger jumped out infront of the car on my way home and has taken out the whole unit. Is this going to be a bumper off job or is there an easier way??Thanks in advance for any advice.....

To replace the unit it'll be a bumper off job.

Sorry to hear about your incident; badgers are bigger than you think and can do a fair bit of damage emoticon-0120-doh.gif

I didn't realise the badger cull had already started....:giggle:

Wardy, if you remove the left and right grill inserts then pop the fog cover out I think you can remove the lamp that way?! Don't quote me though........

I thought there was a mounting point/screw that you couldn't get to without the bumper off....

But as you say, worth popping those covers off and double-checking.

I can confirm that you can replace the bulbs that way, but to replace the whole unit or lense, it will be a bumper off job. Not as big a deal as it sounds, but an hour or so's work anyway. :(

Torx screws are located at the edge of the wheelarches (three each side I think), three(?) across the top between the headlamps, four (IIRC) underneath the car where the bumper joins the engine drip tray/plastic cladding, two behind the aforementioned 'pop out' outer grille sections, and some clips along the top of the bumper, including under each headlamp.(You will need to pop these out too.)

I found the easiest way to remove these clips, or plastic stud fixings, was to grip the central protruding head and pull it upwards, using a tile snips or pliers. I believe there is a specific tool for them.... :D

Beware of wiring for the foglamps, headlight washers and parking sensors if fitted as you remove the bumper-you don't want to damage them-they should just unclip if necessary.

HTH.

Thank you... I thought as much. I have just changed the spark plugs and air filter today and it drives like a different car. So much for the skoda service it had recently....

I asked before skodaphile in case you may know, is there any adjutment in these fog lamps?, can they be moved up and down?, after painting the bumper i got the car back with one lamp higher than the other. Aniway I will invetigate this over the pop out side grille sections.

Thanks.

If you remove the outer foglight surround there is a screw there for adjustment AFAIK. Or the bulb may be fitted incorrectly, causing an incorrect beam pattern. :wonder:
