Anybody into storage or have large amounts of data

Featured Replies

I'm just curious to see if there are people out here who have large data sets for which they are responsible (such as at their work place).

By large I'm thinking about 10TB upwards although a few TB might well be interesting too.

I work for a "large storage company" and manage backups totalling 1 Pb or so a month. We use NAS and SAN, and back up to disk mostly. At home, I have around a Terabyte or so, kept on NAS and backed up to a remote storage service across the web.

My job mainly involves working out how to backup the data stored on large storage systems but I also install NetApp kit and the last one I installedn was a total of 27TB split across 2 sites...

3.12 TB in a WHS cobbled together from bits I had lying around.

Few of you with some volumes around then :)

I'm responsible for about 500gb of data which equates to the last 12 years worth of work for my company. Should anything go badly wrong I'm sure I will be held very responsible by my boss.

We have a habit of having projects resurrect themselves after 2-5 years so archiving always is a pain.

It is backed up both on and off site though.
