My son works in toyota garage as a parts person and he has got me some Toyota branded SAE 5W/30 that is listed ( I've seen the 'AUTODATA' spec sheet ) as being the correct oil for my Fabia 1.9TDI PD 130 engine.

Whats folks thoughts, should I use it or not ?

The other reason for asking is because I'm due a service very shortly and I wondered what folks experencies have been when you take your own oil into a Skoda dealership for the service ?

Does the oil meet VW505.01 spec. if so use it if not steer well clear.

All the spec VW 505 01 oils listed below are 5W-40 so the odds are that the Toyota-branded oil is NOT suitable for your car.

I've always taken my own oil to the dealer when the car gets serviced. I don't know that it saves me much, but at least I know what's in there.

And I wouldn't be happy with the Toyota oil in a Fabia.

It might be correct for variable servicing in say the octavia, they seem to be graded 5w30. But then the Fabia is on fixed servicing. sorry.

Just because the oil is 5w30, doesn't mean it is the right spec. Needs to be 505.01 approved by VW otherwise, sdo not use it. I work for Toyota, but would never dream of using the oil in my car!
