all superb back seats

Featured Replies

Thinking of swapping my vrs for a petrol dsg elegance or an se saloon just need to no if the back seats fold down flat to put large things in the boot??????????

On the twin door saloon they don't quite go flat, they do on the estate.

maybe a twin door owner has a photo to show how room you get, if I remember the boots not much bigger than an Octy, but the hatch opening makes it easier to use.

Maybe these pictures can help you

When I read this I thought that can't be right, but it is!

The Octavia has always been well known for its big boot, this just proves it. The Superb gets the boot and acres of leg room.

If you raise the headrests slightly the seatbacks lie lower - almost flat and yes the backrest is split 60/40.

I had an octavia before and I seem to remember the seats went flatter - I think the seat base moved up on mine so you could get the backs flat.

On my Superb the seats dont go flat enough in my opinion to be much use. Certainly when you load wood or something like that in there is a great big gap below the wood as it bridges over the fold - if that makes sence. Basically you get extra length but loose lots of volume. If it is important to get flat folded rear seats the hatch/twin door is not for you. Not sure about the estate for flat seats though

thanks for all the information and pics,

Thats sorted that one !!!!!! going to find a elegance 1.8 dsg petrol  saloon

The estate only has a flat floor if you have the "raised boot floor" or "double bottom boot floor" option (don't know what the correct English name is.)

Without this option there is about 4cm height difference between the floor of the actual boot and the part of the floor which is the back of the back-rests.

Also, for this flat floor, you have to fold the seats forward first.

I often want a flat floor for loading long cartons in my combi so I remove the rear squab and the back lays perfectly flat. It is literally less that 60 seconds to take it out or put it in. In fact it is so easy I think they did it on purpose to allow the owner to do so.

Correct, with the 'variable boot floor' the rear load area (including rear seats) is perfectly flat, you also have the option of lifting the rear seat squavs or removing them totally

Ok on the combi, if you don't order the vary floor, do you get the 4cm drop?

If so can you retro fit the vary floor,? I know i didn't order it, because every model ive seen has a flat floor, i assumed this was std.

The boot on the octy is much more useful ie suitcase friendly , i can stand our suitcases upright in ours but not in the Superb, size isnt everything shape is more important ;)

Yes, the Superb hatch has a split folding rear seat back. Although it does not fold flat due to the fixed squab, there is more usable room than in a Octavia.

The optional Variable Boot Floor solves the problem of the step when the seat backs are folded in the Superb Combi, however, this option is not available on Greenline Combi's as I have recently discovered.

Does the seat base not lift up like in the Octy???

Not on the saloon /twinhatch they don't.

The rear seat base on the twindoor/hatch is removable quite easily.

It comes out as one piece(not split). Lift the front of the base firmly about 15mm, it then unclicks from a fastening and whole base is then free. Take out of car and the seat backs will fold completely flat.

Why this is not in the manual is beyond me

I tried this- however momentarily forgot I specced the car with heated rear seats. Decided that I ca live with seat back not horizontal after all.
