My experiences with Skoda:

Recently the air conditioner compressor failed and it was a failure of a compressor fitted by a multinational which did not even have a proper warranty, which is mandatory for such expensive components.

Before this all the five tires had to be replaced and I was informed that these tires were not made for Indian Tropical conditions!!!

To my utter dismay, the entire clutch assembly gave way...imagine..my Maruti Esteem of over seven years I was still running with the same AC/Tires and clutch plates till I sold it to Maruti True Value.

Total cost of damages: Over Rs.1.5 Lakhs ...with no warranty replacement with a token show of goodwill considerations, but even that could not be availed of since they wanted the old components before settling the paltry sum, after a months of wrangling...and as normally sane people do, to avoid piling up junk. I had thrown them away.

Appalling - thought Skoda (and parent company VW) was a hallmark of quality.

Hope everyone will think twice before buying 1 in India going forward.

I would have thought someone with very senior positions in Tata, Rolls, Reliance etc would have a bit of clout with Skoda dealers. Sorry to hear they have not treated you well.
