How to repair window switches

Featured Replies

My drivers window was acting up yesterday, it went up when pressing down and stayed down when trying to put it up, so closed the door and locked the car and kept the Key in the looked position so that the windows would close.

Decided to investigate

Prise off top part of door handle, then disconnect wiring, turn part over so you can see the square block, take a hold of the bit where the wires go in and tug firmly, do this over a table

Inside you will see 2 or 4, depending on how many electric windows, H shaped contacts, gently lift these out and clean them, then with a cotton bud and some electrical spray rub the circuit board to clean.

Reassembly, place rubber pad in first, then H contacts making sure the little lugs in the center of the H face the rubber pad, and that the H is true, place circuit board on top, and gently click it back in connect the wiring and turn ignition on and try it before clicking back the handle

Works better now than it has for a long time
