Buying a VRS

Featured Replies

Hi all. Long time lurker, first time poster :)

I passed on my first ever car (Toyota Aygo baby!) to my wife a couple of years ago and bought my first Skoda, a Fabia 1.9TDI. I've got to say, i really fell in love with it. However my wife's jealousy is getting to be too much so i'm intending on passing on the Skoda to her, and getting myself a VRS.

My question is a bit vague, what i'm looking for really is some hints and tips on buying a Fabia VRS, and any pitfalls i should look out for.

Should i be avoiding modded or remapped cars or actively looking for them? Would that make a big difference to the insurance? Are there any big problems with an ageing VRS that i should keep a particular eye out for?

Ideally i'd like to buy from someone here, i've had a browse of the classified forum, and you guys really know how to look after your cars. With all these things in mind, what sort of age/mileage ballpark should i be expecting for £4.5 - £5k?

As a late-in-life driver i feel pretty ignorant about cars in general, so any help would be massively appreciated.
