Skoda Fabia 2003 - the exhaust light is flashing on the speedo (around there somewhere).

We had a mechanic look at it. No codes came up and the light stopped flashing. He said keep calm and carry on. So we did and we drove to Gatwick. Engine seems fine. 2 days later it starts flashing again. I had a look at the exhaust and it is well rusty. We need to drive from Gatwick Airport to Manchester in it tomorrow. What do you reckon - will we make it !?

DO you think it might just be a dodgy sensor ?

As a rule of thumb a flashing MIL light indicates something that if you carry on driving could damage the cat. convertor. I would be temted to check it out before doing a two hundred mile drive.
